Traveling is a wonderful way of clearing the mind and enriching the soul, and there is nothing better than bringing your best friend along for the journey.

Hotel chains are starting to see the growing demand for Pet hotel, as traveling dog owners have sought these features while planning their trips. Dog friendly hotels offer dog owners a greater peace of mind compared to the reluctant relinquishment of their beloved pet at the kennel.

There is now a fleet of dog friendly hotels across the country, including major chains like Best Western, Holiday Inn, Motel 6, Red Roof Inn, and Sheraton/Westin. Best Western is by far the most accommodating hotel for animals, boasting over 1,000 pet friendly hotels throughout all fifty states. Motel 6 is also quite accommodating with about 800 dog friendly locations. 

Smaller hotel chains are also following the trend with their own squad of dog friendly hotels. You can find local directory listings for these on sites like DogFriendlyHotels.org and DogFriendly.com. Note well that smaller hotels are more susceptible to pet policy changes and calling them in advance is advised.

Then of course are the hotels that are specifically catered to pets, with dogs being their main clientele. These lavish animal accommodations are a spectacle to be sure, and the local park pales in comparison to the acres of land available at some pet resorts.

One such animal wonderland is Paws Inn in Iowa, which spans 5 acres and features an ever-growing dog park. The hotel itself is equipped with an in-floor heating system and is thoroughly ventilated with the high tech “Life Breath” system.
